has glosseng: The Welsh Marches Line (also known as the North and West Route, in Welsh: Llinell y Mers) is the railway line from Newport, via Abergavenny, Hereford and Craven Arms, to Shrewsbury, and thence (by some definitions) to Crewe via Whitchurch. The line in this way links South Wales to northwest England via the Welsh Marches region, bypassing Birmingham. Passenger services on the route operate on two main axes - from South West Wales, Swansea and Cardiff to Manchester, and from Cardiff to Wrexham, Chester, the North Wales Coast and Anglesey.
