Denna typ använder sig av mycket enkla och förhållandevis billiga material som gör det enkelt och ekonomiskt möjligt att täcka mindre behov av elektricitet i t.ex. utvecklingsländer. Denna nya typ av vindkraftverk bygger på användandet av ett tunt stycke material som vibrerar när vinden blåser på det, vibrationerna sätter ett antal permanentmagneter i rörelse. Magneternas rörelse kan sedan omvandlas till elkraft.
