Bladene er linjeformede og helrandede med en kort spids. Blomsterne er samlet i stande, som består af 1-7 småaks. De er indhyllet i talrige blade, hvad der har givet slægten navnet phyllostachys (af græsk phyllon = "blad" + stachys = "aks"). |
