Los seis gases nobles que se encuentran en la naturaleza son helio (He), neón (Ne), argón (Ar), kriptón (Kr), xenón (Xe) y el radioactivo radón (Rn). Hasta ahora el siguiente miembro del grupo, el ununoctio (Uuo), ha sido sintetizado en un acelerador de partículas, pero se conoce muy poco de sus propiedades debido a la pequeña cantidad producida y su corta vida media.
