has gloss | eng: Galaxy 3C236 is a Fanaroff and Riley Class II (FR II) radio galaxy . It is among the largest known radio galaxies, with the radio structure having a total linear size in excess of 4.5 Mpc (15 million light years). 3C236's host galaxy is involved in an interaction with its nearby southern neighbor and appears to have accreted more than one billion solar masses of cold gas (molecular hydrogen). Accretion of some of this material onto the central supermassive black hole may be triggering the current episode of galaxy activity. |
