has glosseng: Michael Fields is a British lute and theorbo player. Born in Hawaii, USA. The song of the surf and the rhythm of ukeleles made a lasting impression on him. His musical journey began from playing folk, rock and jazz in California and Australia. Afterwards he acquired a romantic interest in older music, which took him to England in 1974 to where he learned classical guitar and lute. *Michael studied at Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, England. He is most known from his duo partnership with British soprano Evelyn Tubb, and as the music director of ensemble Sprezzatura. He is also the member of the ensemble New Trinity Baroque (USA). *Due to his career as a performer, opera director and teacher he traveled around the world several times, with many rewarding and interesting collaborations along the way. One of them was directing a performance of Dido and Aeneas in Belgrade in 1996 with Predrag Gosta in the role of Sorceress and Evelyn Tubb in the role of Dido.
