It was first broadcast on the Central Television of the Soviet Union in 1965. Aside from the minute of silence itself the main part of the program was a solemn address, commonly known as The Minute of Silence, dedicated to all those who fell during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 fighting Nazi invasion of the Soviet Union.
