has gloss	eng: Amdo language, "Am Ke" is the spoken language of the majority of the people of Amdo in North Eastern Tibet, in Chinese states of Qinghai and some parts of Sichuan (Aba) and Gansu (Ganlho). It is one of the three main spoken dialects of Tibetan, the other two being U-Tsang ("U Ke") and Kham ("Kham Ke"). All three main dialects of Tibetan share the same written script, however their spoken pronunciation and grammar are different. These differences may have emerged due to geographical isolation of the regions of Tibet. Unlike Kham Ke and Lhasa Ke (Central Tibetan), Am Ke is not tonal. It retains many word-initial consonant clusters which have been lost in Central Tibetan.

Z tego względu język amdo często bywa określany jako dialekt języka tybetańskiego; z poglądem tym nie zgadzają się językoznawcy, wskazując na fakt, że jest on w dużej mierze niezrozumiały zarówno dla użytkowników centralnej odmiany języka tybetańskiego jak i dialektów z regionu Kham .
