It came into being on January 1 2008 and took over the responsibilities of the Broadcast Advertising Clearance Centre. Clearcast is owned by eight UK commercial broadcasters: ITV, Channel 4, five, British Sky Broadcasting, GMTV, Turner, IDS and Viacom.
